Description[]

These fanged and pale white, blood-drinking humanoids are found in The Vampire Courts far off in the northwest beyond The Frozen Wasteland, an area that separates most civilizations from the vampires with a massive cold storm that is almost akin to a wall. The vampires do not suffer any damage from silver, though sunlight still seems to be an annoyance to them.[1] In addition to them drinking blood, they appear to be incapable of eating normal food entirely. Eregar theorizes that they are unable to digest solids. In return they get powerful blood magic, nightvision and potent self-healing and empowering as well as immortality.[2]

The first vampires[]

Vampires were a result of a blood-based substance retrieved from an Ascended facility by the Azarinth Order. They first thought the substance was a biological weapon but extensive experiments on it revealed it to be capable of changing creatures like an elixir would do, though in far more potent way. The first vampire to be created from their experiments was an Azarinth Juggernaut named Nephar who had fought in the war against the Ascended. He turned into a wild creature with no connection to who he was before.

The power-hungry order continued to do experiments despite this, and eventually all the highest ranking members of the order turned into vampires after the process was perfected. When the order did not stop their thirst for power it broke Verillion Carn. It turned him against the order and caused him to slaughter them all before leaving it all behind. He took the perfect elixir and escaped the plains with people sharing his beliefs to lands off to the west that had been ravaged by the removal of Elos' suns. In these lands he and his people struggled and created the lands of the Courts

Ilea encountered another example of this substance in a facility in the lands of the former Kingdom of Rhyvor, with a starved and crazed vampire residing there. This facility was never discovered by the Azarinth Order, but the substance found there is noted to have been far more effective than the one the order experimented on.[3]

The Vampire Courts[]

The Courts rule the race, and they govern the race under four rules that one must abide by within their lands. These rules have not changed in millennia according to Eregar[1] and have evidently worked out for them so far judging by this, though the fact that the rules were put in place by the First Vampire who seems to be a powerful overseer which may have helped it along.[2]

The four rules:[]

  1. "You do not kill the citizens of the Courts, or their guests."
  2. "You do not take or restrict the freedom of another."
  3. "You contribute."
  4. "Be not, uncivilized."
