Information[]
Octavia is Adam Strand's daughter. When growing up she was largely left to her own devices by Adam who didn't show much interest in her efforts into researching the Ascended because he was too focused on his own matters.[1] At the time she was more of a liability to him, a weak point as one of the leaders of The Shadow's Hand. One of her main areas of study was Eregar's Haven and its origins. There she found runes unknown to Dagon's collections as well as other private collections and libraries in Viscera.
After getting sufficient power, she traveled the lands and went west where she encountered a fox-like species called the Mava who knew of the ancient war against the Ascended. Here she learned as much as she could about them and trained with them. After this she went to one of the Ascended's facilities and learned of Kohr, and eventually how to get there through blood and a summoning.[2]
She wound up stuck in Kohr where she gathered a large group of mind weavers who called her "Teacher", and like with the Mava she called them her "kin" in return. Her father summoned the demons in Ravenhall to come to Kohr and rescue her, something she feels very guilty about as she herself grew up in the city.[3] According to herself she is banned in the Foundation of Glass[4]. She herself does not elaborate on it, but Evan Trayne mentions that she is the reason for an entire set of enchantments being added to their libraries.[3]
Class and magic[]
Octavia's primary class is Divination Mage, using a kind of magic that is broad and difficult to pinpoint. The magic provides her with simple divination like for example a feeling for dangerous beings nearby and how those beings feel. Some of the more active magic allows her to be more intrusive to gauge certain things, though in that case it helps if she has more specific questions in mind and know the being in question well. Most of her magic can be done instantly, but she also relies on rituals, runework and extended casting to increase range and duration. Close vicinity is important to provide her with accurate results, and the time she spends on it also contributes. Octavia mentions a second class, but it has yet to be revealed what that is.[5]
