Maro Invalar is the former king of Rhyvor, a kingdom lost thousands of years ago. He has spent the intervening time unconscious in a machine of his own devising.[1] He is a Necromancer with level in excess of 300 (310 when Ilea first meets him), and in battle, he grows more powerful as his health declines. He is married to Elana Invalar, though they spend little time together after being freed, and he is sexually promiscuous and makes no secret of it. He has an unnatural charisma and skills or spells that seem to relate to his status as a (former) king. He shows great confidence and has an odd, slightly flamboyant sense of humor. However, an undercurrent of bitter defeat may be present in his words, possibly relating to the recent (from his perspective) death of his son and his entire kingdom, including many of his friends. He was mainly an adventurer, with his wife handling most of the politics. His hobbies include gambling, orgies, and generally being irresponsible.
Description[]
In his thirties, broad shoulders, long silver beard and hair.[2]
His attire looked heavy, different sections of silver steel interwoven with the dark red fabric as well as dozens of intricate designs depicting mostly roses. Steel boots as well as gauntlets, the latter with sections for each part of his fingers. The helmet didn’t show his eyes, two rounded silver steel pieces separated by a vertical line going through where his nose would be. The steel reached around, other than the two pieces placed where his face was hidden below the only thing distinct about it were the silver antlers reaching up from each side.Coupled with the two pieces on his face, there were four protrusions going up and over the full plate helmet. All of it screamed wealth as well as countless hours invested by a capable craftsman or woman.[3]
