Information[]
The Library of Souls is an information gathering organization located in the large city of Virilya, the capital of the Empire of Lys. Ilea first encountered them during Baralia's siege of the city[1] when she helped Elise escape from them.[2]
Rule against outside contact[]
The Library maintains a rule that forbids contact with the outside world, going so far as to institute the death penalty for breaking the rule. Librarians stay in the library and never go anywhere. Breaking the rules labels you a traitor to the library. When Elise broke the rule by writing a romantic letter intending for Ilea to deliver it, she was imprisoned in Virilya's vast dungeon and tortured for information - presumably to be killed later.[3][2]
Tracking[]
The library goes far to control their librarians and their movements. It is not known if all of them are subjected to it, but Elise had an enchanted metal tracker fixed to her sternum, necessitating a healer at the ready to remove it. Little is explained about the item, but it uses the mana of the person it is implanted in to function.[2]
