Demons originate from the easily accessible realm commonly referred to as The Great Salt. They are "born" with a single class. Most demons are sub-sentient, but Mind Weavers and some rare evolved demons (such as Green) display human-level intelligence. Demons from the Great Salt average a level around 200. All demons from The Great Salt are looking for a way to leave their realm. All Demons that aren't Mind Weavers are referred to as Spawn by the Mind Weavers. Mind Weavers assume that any creature not able to resist their mental abilities are spawn. Spawn won't resist a Mind Weavers control because they know it increases their chances of escaping the Great Salt. Demons that live in the ocean of the Great Salt are much higher leveled than the demons that don't
Demons can produce more demons using corpses - the resulting demon's level is based upon the level of the corpse. The transformation changes the muscles so they tense up, bones reform to allow for claws and teeth. The brain gets smaller and many of the organs simply regress and die, unused by what they become.
